Understand protection before moving day

A practical guide to documenting belongings and reviewing liability, valuation and claim terms.

Move Me Canada moving and storage services

Moving agreements can include different liability, valuation or protection terms. Customers should understand the available options, exclusions and claim procedure before moving day.

Ask before signing

  • What basic liability or valuation is included?
  • Are additional protection options available?
  • How are high-value items declared?
  • Which items are excluded or require special packing?
  • What documentation is needed if damage occurs?
  • What is the deadline and method for submitting a concern or claim?

Document important belongings

Create an inventory, photograph valuable or delicate pieces and keep appraisals, serial numbers or purchase records where relevant. Tell the estimator about artwork, antiques, electronics, glass, stone, musical instruments and unusually valuable furniture.

Packing affects protection

Some belongings require specific cartons, cushioning, crating or professional packing. A label marked fragile is not a substitute for an appropriate packing method. Keep jewellery, cash, passports, medication and irreplaceable documents with you.

At delivery

Review items as they are delivered and raise visible concerns promptly. Follow the notification and documentation requirements in your agreement. This page is general planning information; the signed agreement controls the actual terms of a move.
