Moving checklist: eight weeks to delivery day
A practical timeline for inventory, packing, documents, access and moving-day preparation.

Eight to six weeks before
- Confirm your preferred moving window and request an estimate.
- Create a room-by-room inventory and identify specialty items.
- Decide whether you need full packing, fragile-only packing or storage.
- For cross-border moves, review immigration and customs requirements.
- Collect building rules, elevator bookings and loading restrictions.
Four to three weeks before
- Confirm the moving plan, contact information and both addresses.
- Begin decluttering; do not ship prohibited or undeclared items.
- Arrange travel, accommodation, utilities, insurance and address changes.
- Photograph valuable items and keep purchase or appraisal records.
Two weeks before
- Finish non-essential packing and label every carton by room.
- Separate passports, medication, keys, jewellery and important documents.
- Confirm parking, elevator and property access at both locations.
- Update the inventory if the shipment changes.
Moving week
- Pack an essentials bag that stays with you.
- Remove fuel and batteries where required; check appliance preparation.
- Keep customs and identification documents accessible.
- Walk through the home and identify any item requiring special handling.
Delivery day
- Be available by phone and arrange destination access.
- Direct room placement and check items as they are delivered.
- Note concerns promptly using the process described in your moving agreement.
- Keep final paperwork and inventory records together.
